Developed for Studio Samuel
Breaking barriers. Building confidence. Creating change.
In partnership with Studio Samuel, we're proud to introduce Yewer Abeba (Monthly Flower) – a mobile app designed by girls, for girls, to transform how young women understand and manage their menstrual health.
Why This Matters
50% of schoolgirls in Ethiopia miss between one and four days of school every month due to their monthly menstruation, while 67% of girls have no access to education on puberty and menstrual health. This isn't just about periods – it's about education, opportunity, and equality.

More Than an App – It's a Movement
We've spent months working alongside Studio Samuel's Teen MHM Ambassadors, listening to girls share their experiences in their own words. The app reflects the realities they face – from navigating conversations with family members to managing school during their cycles while respecting cultural practices.
Yewer Abeba bridges the gap between traditional community support and accessible health information. The content addresses real questions girls ask, such as how to talk to mothers, lies are un, and aunts, what to do when supplies are unavailable, and how to maintain dignity while managing periods in different environments.
Designed by Community, For Community
Working with Studio Samuel's network across Ethiopia, we've learned that girls need information that fits their lives – not generic advice that ignores their reality. The app includes guidance that considers everything from rural water access to urban school facilities, always respecting the wisdom of mothers and grandmothers while providing medically accurate information.
Join the Movement
Every girl deserves to feel confident and informed about her body. When girls have access to trustworthy, respectful information in their own language, they stay in school, support their peers, and become advocates in their families and communities.
Because when we support girls with knowledge that honors their culture, we strengthen entire communities.
